The CGOV Foundation
Established in 2006, The CGOV Foundation was the vision of the partners and associates of CGOV Asset Management. The idea of "giving at the office" was partially fuelled by Warren Buffett's approach - engaging with clients (shareholders) who have made CGOV (Berkshire Hathaway) successful. The vision is threefold:
| 1. | In the spirit of giving at the office the partners and associates wanted to formally commit a percentage of their profits to the Foundation each year. This will create a base of "ever growing" funds from which perpetual gifts (investments) can be made to support a variety of worthy causes. |
| 2. | Consistent with CGOV Asset Management's focused investment philosophy, the Foundation will concentrate on making gifts that have a meaningful impact on the people and organizations being supported. In some cases the impact will be enhanced by co-investing with other donors and philanthropic organizations. |
| 3. | Because it is complex and costly to set up and operate a charitable foundation, the CGOV Foundation provides a vehicle that will: |
| a. | enable clients to work and collaborate with the CGOV Foundation to make the most appropriate charitable disbursements, and |
| b. | help defray the costs and complexity of operating their own charitable foundation. |
